How to Use your eBook to Promote Your Essential Oils Business
This step-by-step guide to using eBooks is the fastest way to get your product or service noticed by thousands of online customers.
Among the 1 billion people who now use the internet worldwide, the vast majority of them are searching for information. They are looking for financial services, medical information, checking real estate listings, chatting with newsgroups, researching products and services, and looking for information that’ll answer their questions and solve their problems.
The same is true with people who love essential oils.
So what does that mean for you, as a Young Living distributor?
It means that your knowledge is a hot product!
That’s where eBooks come in. eBook (or) E-books (short for electronic books) aren’t only the perfect vehicle in which to package your valuable information product, they’re also instantly available, easy and free to deliver.
On top of that, once you’ve invested in the initial time to create them, your costs to reproduce them are nil. It means that if you sell them, you’ll keep 100 percent of the profits!
The important thing to note about e-books is they aren’t just books. Unlike a paper book, which can only contain words and maybe the odd chart or illustration, an e-book can contain absolutely anything that can be delivered over the internet.
The mega difference with a book is that you can update your ebook as often as you need. In a world of FDA and ever-changing rules, that option is like gold.
Creating an eBook is easy, and if you don’t know how to do it, I will do it for you. If you have a blog, that’s a big plus. Converting any blog post to an eBook is very valuable because people see more value in an ebook that in a blog. But of course, your eBook can also be made from your company’s website, or your own writing in a word format. I can do that for you too.
But, in order to get your e-book in front of as many eyes as possible, you will need some patience, a plan, and some creative ideas.
Best tips to get you started with your eBook
1. Get Your Digital House in Order
- – Before you start promoting your eBook, make sure that you have a website or a blog.
- – You will also need some social media accounts: Facebook of course. Twitter is more for politicians and artists, but for some ebooks, LinkedIn or Pinterest may be a good fit.
- – You will need to schedule some time every day to engage with your followers.
- – You need to invest in your Essential Oils Business, and today that investment means having a digital marketing strategy all year round.
2. Create or update your Blog
I understand that blogging takes a lot of time (tell me about it.) Most of my Essential Oils Distributors ask me why they should do it.
My answer is YES!!
- The first reason is that it increases traffic to your website.
- The second is that when readers read your blog posts, they see you as an expert in your field or that your work is entertaining.
Once trust or interest is established, readers will want more content from you — especially when they see the value you offer for free.
By having a blog, you overcome a common buyer fear of purchasing something that doesn’t have value.
3. Give Your Book a Publication Date
Many authors who are publishing an e-book treat the day the book goes live on bookseller sites as a publication date. This is not a great idea as that will make for a frustrating launch. You’ll start watching for downloads before you’ve even done much promotion. So to give your book that best start, give yourself a publication date that is six to eight weeks after the book has gone live.
4. Reviews Are Essential
To secure reviews from online (blogs/websites) and offline (newspapers/magazines) media, you need to send them “review copies.” With e-books, you can send them PDFs of your book (but that is an insecure way to send your book, and I would not recommend it) or give them promo codes provided from some booksellers or get copies printed on print-on-demand.
How to promote my eBook?
There are literally dozens of ways for you to use e-books to increase sales, capture opt-ins, generate sales leads, and more.
For example, with e-books you can:
– Create Buzz
Create some buzz about your e-book by talking about it on your social network (essentially Facebook). Learning how to build your brand, increase engagement and be effective on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn will be an important aspect of promoting your e-book.
Several weeks before you have finished with your e-book, talk about what’s special about it, and let people know you are going to have an official e-book launch party where you will offer something special (more unique content or maybe a gift basket or signed printed copies). It’s a way to get people in your network excited. Just remember not to be a 24/7 promo machine.
– Do a video
Record a video presentation of your best salesperson pitching your product. A video sales pitch is a great way to reach a far wider audience because you can easily send it around the internet. People love YouTube. And people love to know the authors behind great content. Make a short video talking to the camera about the ways in which your e-book can help other people. Talk about the takeaways of your e-book in your video and then show a link to your e-book at the end of your video. Share your video on your YouTube channel, with a post on Facebook, LinkedIn and tweet the link. You can repeatedly use your video as a marketing tool by changing the teaser content you post along with the video URL. I made several for myself and here is an example.
This video above is embeded in a Facebook post!
– Create an interactive demo
An interactive demonstration shows how your Essential Oils work. People love to be able to see how something works before they buy it, and if you capture the contact information of everyone who views your demonstration, you can easily follow up with those leads.
– Give Away Excerpts for Free
To attract readers, you may want to think about giving away an excerpt from your book. You can also give away a tip list, a fun quiz or a compelling strategy depending on the content of your e-book.
By giving something away for free, you are showcasing the value of your content. Add some testimonials to your free chapter or content to encourage people to purchase your entire e-book.
Make sure the free content you offer has value in itself and isn’t just a summary of what your e-book is about. Providing value makes the buying decision a natural one.
Creating “preview” chapters is an incredibly powerful sales tool. You can let visitors to your site download your e-book and read one or two chapters, and then prompt them to “unlock” the rest of the e-book by paying for it. Once people prove to themselves that you’re offering valuable information, they’ll gladly pay to get the rest of it.
– Sell it
Increase your sales with free or paid trials of text, audio or video products. It’s easy to sell “free trial” e-books that give readers full or partial access to your information for a limited time. If you collect each customer’s credit card information at the beginning of the free trial, you can simply bill them after the trial period is up. And if a customer decides they don’t want your product, you can simply shut off their e-book access from your own computer.
– Compile information
Compile audio or video interviews with industry experts. This makes for a highly marketable e-book that’s fun and easy to create. Most people will agree to an interview if you approach them professionally and explain how they stand to benefit from the exposure of participating in your e-book.
– Use E-books to Create a “Viral” Marketing Campaign
Viral marketing is a strategy that encourages your customers to pass on, or spread, a marketing message to others. Like a virus, your message has the potential to spread exponentially throughout online communities.
The sky is the limit
E-books have come a long way from the simple electronic delivery of text-based documents. Just use your imagination and let e-books help you create and distribute professional-looking information products that’ll wow your customers.
With e-books, you now have a hot new way to take advantage of this powerful strategy to drive floods of qualified buyers to your website by giving away tons of valuable information–and encouraging readers to share it with their friends.
With viral e-books; word about your business can spread fast.
For example, let’s say you persuade 10 friends or team members to pass your e-book on to their friends, and those friends each share it with 10 of their friends, and so on. In no time at all, you’ll have thousands of people opening up and reading your valuable information.
And the greatest part is your e-book is landing right in the hands of your best potential customers, because readers of your e-book will only pass it on to friends they think will be interested in what you have to say.
It’s also surprisingly easy to create a viral e-book.
If you are starting from scratch, here are four basic steps you need to take:
- 1. Create a short report (10 to 30 pages) that solves a problem or shares valuable information about a hot topic for a specific group of people.
- 2. Turn your report into a professional-looking e-book.
- 3. Add a “viral button” to your e-book, so any reader who likes your e-book can easily share it with friends by simply clicking the viral “send this e-book to a friend” button.
- 4. Give away free copies of your viral e-book and invite readers to share unlimited copies with their friends and colleagues. Watch as 1,000s of people share your viral e-book with friends… who share it with their friends… and so on!
How to make your eBook viral?
Of course, right now you’re probably wondering, “how do I do all of this?”
No worries, I can do all of this for you if you need it. Just check this articel.
One of the questions I often heard is: “How does giving away free e-books translate into more downlines?”
For your viral e-book to be successful, you must create a free, information-rich product that’s packed with value, then encourage people to download it, read it and share it with friends.
The secret is: don’t sell your essential oils inside the e-book (I mean, no pricing).
In fact, don’t even push readers to visit your website. Just be generous about the information you share to win the trust and respect of these hot sales leads. Then wait until a few days after they’ve had a chance to read your e-book and send a follow-up letter with an offer for your product. The key to making a viral campaign like this successful is being able to collect the contact information of each and every person who wants to open your e-book.
This means that every person who wants to access your viral e-book must be able to “register” it by providing you their first name, last name, and e-mail address–so you can follow up with personalized e-mails that contain relevant product offers.
How to promote your ebook on social media
Create Social Teasers
Understandably you’ll want to promote your ebook across your social platforms. Tease your audience with snippets from the ebook, and you’re much more likely to create buzz around the content you’re promoting.
Post an engaging image from the ebook, an interesting stat or a stand-out quote to attract your audience’s attention so they want to click to your content.
Also, use a popular hashtag that is relevant to your ebook content in your posts. Explore hashtagify.me to discover suitable hashtags.
Pin a Tweet
The Pin feature on Twitter is a little-known, yet effective, tactic that gives you the ability to pin a tweet to the top of your feed. Thus the pinned tweet will always be the first one a visitor sees.
Find or create a tweet you want to pin that highlights your ebook. Then right-click on the Further Options icon and select to Pin to Your Profile Page. HubSpot pins tweets to promote their ebook content.
Pinned tweets are free and perfect for promoting content like an ebook.
Design Social Banners
Since social banners and covers instantly grab attention when someone visits your social pages, they can be especially helpful for promoting your ebook.
For example, create a cover photo for Facebook and Twitter that promotes your ebook. Although there’s no way to enable a clickable link back to the ebook content, it’s still worth including the URL so your audience knows where to find it.
The dimensions for a Facebook cover are 851 x 315 pixels. Twitter covers are 1500 x 421 pixels.
Social media influencers can really help accelerate your promotional strategy. Explore platforms such as BuzzSumo to find influencers within your industry. Then connect with them to see if they‘ll share your content.
Influencers are always looking for valuable information to share with their audience. For example, Darren Rowse shared a link to an ebook in this tweet.
If you’re struggling to find influencers to share content from your site, ask if they‘re open to you writing a guest post for them on their site. Create a post that‘s topically related to your ebook, and link to it in your article.
Post in Communities
Google+ and LinkedIn are both home to a variety of different communities where marketers discuss the latest trends within their niche.
After you join a community, take some time to get to know other members before you start promoting your ebook. Take part in discussions, and like and comment on their posts to build long-lasting relationships.
Take a look at the Groups Directory on LinkedIn to find relevant groups for your industry. Or, if you’d prefer, create your own group and talk about the content of your ebook to an interested audience.
Also, on Google+ you’ll find hundreds of communities to join. The Google+ platform makes it incredibly easy to promote content with the option to include links, images and videos within your post.
Pay to Promote Posts
To guarantee your ebook will get in front of an audience that actually cares about your content, consider paying for a sponsored post.
For example, invest in a Facebook lead ad. Your post will blend in nicely within users’ news feeds or sidebars, and you’ll increase the chance of getting more clicks.
As with all posts on social media, make sure your ad invites the user to click on it. Choose an engaging image of the ebook and include a snippet of persuasive copy.
This sponsored post from InsightSquared has an appealing image and a brief but thorough description.
Create an ad for your ebook that consists of an engaging image and text.
Platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have made it financially possible for any business to promote their content. You don’t need a large budget for your campaign. Even a small investment in ads will increase your ebook’s visibility to your audience.
This Facebook post above looks like a regular post, but really it is an ad.
Optimize Your Landing Page for Lead Capture
To get the most out of your promotion efforts, make sure your ebook landing page is set up for conversions.
If your content management system can’t capture lead data for you, then consider using a solution from a site like Infusionsoft, LeadPages, Formstack or Pardot.
TheEssentialTools.Com optimized the landing page for their ebook. If you need a landing page, just contact me!
TheEssentialTools.Com included keywords from the ebook in the headline, URL, meta description and page summary to improve visibility. They also took away navigation links, so the prospect can’t easily “escape.” Plus, they’ve included the benefits of the content to encourage downloads.
Make sure your ebook‘s landing page captivates your audience. Include key information so it‘s easy to find and piques prospects’ interest.
Final Thoughts about ebooks
E-books have moved well beyond the simple electronic delivery of text-based documents.
With e-books, you can now package audio and video–not just text–in an attractive and easy-to-navigate publication, as well as harness the contagious power of viral marketing.
However, if you’re going to use viral e-books as a marketing tool for your business, you can’t approach writing them the same way you would approach writing an advertisement.
You must be generous with the information you share to win the trust and respect of your readers, which will entice them to pass on your e-book to friends. Then with the contact information you’ve collected, you can follow up with personalized e-mails that contain relevant product offers.
Promoting ebooks these days is not an easy task. It takes time, expertise, creativity, flexibility and patience. I tell my Essential Oils Distributors that they should plan on promoting their book for a long time.
Not all ideas (and not all ebooks) will go viral, but most will work for you. Also, not all ideas will produce sales, but if you stick with a long-term strategy, you’ll build a relationship with your readers which is more important than ever.
